Government announces 20% rise in Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (gov.uk)
The PM and DPM have this week announced that the NMW for apprentices will increase by a whopping 57p an hour to £3.30, effective from October. The government is also putting employers in control of apprenticeship funding by introducing a new digital apprenticeship voucher. More info on the gov.uk website.
34% of British parents don’t want their children to go to university (AGR)
According to the results of a new survey by www.notgoingtouni.co.uk, 58% of British parents don’t talk to their children about what long term plans they have for their future, while a further 34% would prefer their child not to attend university. The AGR provide information on the top 5 reasons given for this.
Silicon Valley entrepreneurship course comes to London (BBC)
The BBC reports that Stanford University, last week rated in the top five of the world’s mostly highly regarded universities, is going to start teaching in London from the autumn. The Californian university, where Google began as a PhD project, is going to offer its “Stanford Ignite” entrepreneurship course in London for the first time from September.
