(Also asked in SEN Advisers group, so apologies for repetition).

I may be asking the impossible here but would be grateful of any help….

I met with a young client today (21 years) and his mum. J is a lovely lad, very willing to work but suffering from some confidence issues following a tricky recent work situation in which he was basically asked to leave. He has a number of difficulties – dyspraxia, autism (very likely but undiagnosed), and was without speech until 8 years old due to health struggles in childhood. However, he is not registered disabled nor does he want to be. His mum is in agreement that this wouldn’t be a good move for him as it would further effect his confidence and risk depression.

He has done many college courses and has lots of volunteer work experience but is struggling to access the job market.

Does anyone know of any organisations who may be able to provide him with specialist support WITHOUT being registered disabled? Or of any companies who may be worth an approach who are a bit more sympathetic to workers who need additional support?

Any pointers would be most appreciated. I would love to help this young man but it is going to be tricky. Will add that he is out of education now and I am working with him on a private basis.

    Many thanks.
