A self-employed careers adviser, I provide careers guidance and develop careers education. Working with UK and international clients, I also train staff, write curriculum materials, and undertake career-related research. I co-developed one of the quality awards, and as adviser, assessor and former moderator, I apply these standards in my work.
28 years a careers adviser, in careers services I led initiatives in specialist careers work e.g. with international students and universities, in Real Game, between education and employers, with younger pupils, for gifted and talented young people. I have written and edited curriculum packs and been on advisory groups e.g. for UCAS and the international baccalaureate. Following careers education management I moved back into school, pragmatically applying quality standards, delighted at ‘outstanding’ inspection outcomes.
The highlight of my career was in 2013 when I won the first ACEG Christine Thomas award for innovation in providing outstanding careers education and guidance.
